Some Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF COLON HYDROTHERAPY?

With a cleansed and toned colon the benefits are many and include symptom relief such as headaches, constipation, bloating, IBS, Acne, low energy levels, diarrhoea, diverticulitis, backache, colon spasms, candida, parasites etc.

IS COLONIC IRRIGATION SAFE?

Yes. As a trained therapist, who has carried out many treatments, and Registered Nurse your treatment is in expert hands.

The warm filtered water gently drains from the gravity fed tank into the large colon, there is no machinery at all so the treatment is very gentle.

All equipment used is disposable so there is no risk of cross-infection.

Although some friendly bacteria are expelled during treatment, they quickly breed back up to strength, and the environment after treatment is usually better than before, thus leading to a better balance. Pro Biotic supplements are also recommended and available to purchase following your treatment.

HOW MANY COLONIC TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?

This depends on the individual and advice will be given after your first treatment. It may vary from only one treatment to several spread out over a period of time, after which preventative or maintenance treatments may be recommended. However you will benefit from any treatment as the toxins are removed from your body.

IS IT PAINFUL?

It should not be painful, however sometimes during a colonic, the colon muscle will contract resulting in a resistance or tension; this may feel like cramping or wind. Such episodes, if they do occur, are brief and easily tolerated. Most people actually enjoy the colonic and are especially pleased with the unaccustomed sensation of feeling lighter, clean and more energised afterward.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A COLONIC?

Increase your water consumption to 2 litres daily and cut down on caffeine, alcohol and fizzy drinks, red meat, refined sugars and saturated fat, wheat and dairy and increase your intake of fresh fruit and veg, pulses etc for 48 hours before your treatment. On the day of your treatment have a bowel movement if possible before arriving for your appointment. These measures enhance the effects of your treatment.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?

  • Recent Abdominal Surgery ( less than 4 months)
